2008 Public Service and Outreach Staff Award for Excellence
Kitty Shollenberger

Kitty Shollenberger has provided exemplary service to the University of Georgia and to Georgia’s citizens for 30 years — first at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education, where she managed the booking office and coordinated all of the university president’s meetings, luncheons and conferences, and most recently at the Carl Vinson Institute of Government, where she serves as a program coordinator in the Local Government Training Programs unit.
While Shollenberger oversees numerous processes, from developing marketing materials, coordinating conferences for two associations, managing registrations and overseeing logistical details to handling training evaluations, she is always looking for ways to improve her products and satisfy her clients. She serves as CVIOG’s liaison between the Georgia Municipal Association and the Association County Commissioners of Georgia and has been known to do whatever it takes to get a job done, from staying late at meetings to set up for the next day’s events to helping blow up 1,000 balloons.
She is committed to the Vinson Institute’s mission to improve governance and the lives of people in Georgia and the world. Her training certificate programs for Georgia’s city and county elected officials more than 43 separate courses for the Georgia Municipal Association alone serve as national models of local government training. In 2005, she received the State Service Award from the Georgia Municipal Association for her dedication and distinguished service to the cities of Georgia.
