Education
The educational attainment of Georgians is below the national average.
Georgia traditionally, has had low educational attainment levels. For example, in 1940, 75 percent of Georgia’s adult population did not have a high school education. In 2000 (the most current data available) 21.4 percent of those 25 years and older did not have a high school education. The U.S. average is 19.6 percent.
Educational attainment levels vary significantly by racial and ethnic group as the table below demonstrates.
