Mission Statement
Endowed with 40,000 acres of land in 1784 and chartered in 1785, the University of Georgia's charter was the first granted by a state for a government controlled university. Public Service and Outreach has played an integral part at UGA during the intervening years, and today, PSO is UGA Beyond the Arch.
UGA Public Service and Outreach enhances quality of life in Georgia by applying the knowledge of the University to the state's evolving economic, social, and community needs.
Since the 1920s, Public Service and Outreach has been the University's ambassador to every corner of the state, translating the land-grant mission into programs and initiatives aimed at improving communities and the daily lives of Georgians.
The Public Service and Outreach 2010-2015 Strategic Plan builds on PSO's historic connection between campus and community.
