The State Botanical Garden of Georgia announced on January 25, 2012, the creation of a scholarship program for Georgia Green Industry Association (GGIA) members or individuals working for a GGIA affiliate.

The scholarship, which was announced at the 2012 GGIA Wintergreen Trade Show, will cover registration and tuition costs for a GGIA member or member employee to earn a Certificate in Native Plants or Certificate in Coastal Plants.

Both certificate programs offer a comprehensive series of courses in identification, cultivation, propagation, ecology, and conservation of native Georgia plants.  This is the first year the State Botanical Garden of Georgia has offered a certificate program in coastal native plants.

Most classes for the Certificate in Native Plants are held in Athens, while most classes for the Certificate in Coastal Native Plants are held in Savannah or near the Georgia coast.

Scholarship applications are due March 1, 2012. For scholarship guidelines contact the State Botanical Garden of Georgia
