ATHENS, Ga. (Oct 14, 2005) — Community leaders will begin a year-long training with the University of Georgia’s Fanning Institute on campus from 1 to 5 p.m. today. The participants have been identified as emerging community leaders. During the next year, they will meet for one day a month to improve their personal leadership, learn about their community, and learn how they can apply their leadership skills to address community problems. This weekend is the program’s “kick-off,” which includes an outdoor leadership laboratory at the Fanning Building from 3 to 5 p.m.

The Fanning Institute is a unit of the Office of the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach at the University of Georgia.
