University of Georgia’s Latino Youth Leadership Program now accepting applications for 2006 session
Athens, Ga. (February 21, 2006) – The University of Georgia’s Fanning Institute now is accepting applications for the Latino Youth Leadership Program. The program is open to youth ages 15-19 from across Georgia. Selected students will participate in a year-long mentorship as well as two sessions on the UGA campus on July 9-12, 2006, and January 12-13, 2007. All program costs are underwritten by sponsors.
During the on-campus sessions, University faculty and community leaders will discuss global and societal issues that impact Latino communities and will share information about how to impact change through leadership. Participants will develop knowledge and skills that they can use to make meaningful change in their local communities. Students also will learn about college selection and the admissions process.
