Run/Walk Event to Benefit Savannah School Sponsored by UGA’s Marine Extension Service
Savannah, Ga. (April 25, 2006) – The University of Georgia Marine Extension Service presents the second annual “Trees to Seas 5K Train Run and Walk,” on May 20, 2006, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Registration begins at 7 a.m. at the Marine Education Center and Aquarium on Skidaway Island.
The event will feature a run or walk through maritime forest, a half-mile “Challenge Course” for children and the “Sea Snail Sprint” for children 12 and under. Free activities for children follow the races, including arts and crafts, face-painting, live musical entertainment, a Home Depot workshop for kids, and free admission to the Aquarium with registration fee. The awards ceremony will include the official grand opening of the new wheelchair-accessible nature trail and boardwalk.
Event proceeds will help a local school participate in marine education programs. Registration fees are $15 for the 5K, $8 for the Challenge Course, and $8 for the Sea Snail Sprint before May 12.
