Dunning Named to Georgia-China Alliance Board
Athens, Ga. (May 15, 2006) – Art Dunning, vice president for public service and outreach at the University of Georgia, has been named to the board of the Georgia-China Alliance.
“Serving on this board helps support state initiatives as economic ties to China are developing and growing,” Dunning said. “Currently, China is Georgia’s fifth largest trading partner.”
The Georgia-China Alliance was established in 2003 as a result of a study by the state senate about the future of trade with China. The non-profit organization aims to promote commerce as well as educational and cultural exchanges between the state of Georgia and the People’s Republic of China. For example, the Georgia-China Alliance is a co-sponsor of UGA’s Red Coat Marching Band’s tour of China this month.
Dunning has made more than a dozen trips to China since 1985, including visits related to UGA outreach activities. UGA has been providing public administration training in China since 1998 through the International Center for Democratic Governance, which is part of the Carl Vinson Institute of Government and a unit of Public Service and Outreach.
