UGA Marine Educators Honored
Savannah, Ga. (October 6, 2006) — The Savannah Coastal Refuges, part of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, honored its 2005 volunteers at an awards luncheon on September 23, 2006. Among the honorees were University of Georgia marine science educators who serve as volunteer staff and provide much of the environmental education effort for Wassaw Island National Wildlife Refuge.
The following UGA Marine Extension Service faculty and staff were recognized with awards:
• Mary Sweeney-Reeves, marine science educator, received a certificate.
• Bob Williams, public service associate, received a special achievement award.
• Anne Frick, public service assistant, received a 500-hour pin.
• Fran Lapolla, marine science educator, also received a 500-hour pin.
• John Crawford, public service representative, received a pin for 4,500 hours of service.
