Social Studies Organization Presents Stakes with Highest Award
Athens, Ga. (October 26, 2006) - Mary Stakes, director of the Carl Vinson Institute of Government’s Civic Education Program, is the recipient of the 2006 President’s Award from the Georgia Council for the Social Studies (GCSS). More than 500 social studies educators attended the organization’s annual conference in Athens October 19-20.
The GCSS President’s Award is given annually to an individual who has displayed an outstanding commitment to furthering social studies education in Georgia and has actively supported the organization with his or her time, talent, and service.
