Georgia Center Employees Designated as Certified Program Planners
Athens, Ga. (December 19, 2006) – Three employees from the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education have completed the Certified Program Planners (CPP) course offered through Learning Resources Network (LERN).
“Having employees certified through LERN strengthens the programs, conferences and events at the Georgia Center,” said Ruth Bettandorff, associate director for learning services at the Georgia Center. “It enables us to tailor what we offer to meet the learning styles, needs and interests of lifelong learners. It is vitally important that our program professionals keep enhancing their credentials and LERN’s CPP designation is recognized internationally as one of the best.”
Kathleen McDermott, a program coordinator, Jane Mertens, a senior event coordinator, and Terrie Aldridge, an event planner, completed the training in early December.
LERN is an international association that offers information and resources to providers of lifelong learning programs. LERN’s Certified Program Planner provides a standard of achievement by which program planners improve knowledge and understanding of marketing, programming and management of lifelong learning programs.
The Georgia Center, celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2007, is a unit of the University of Georgia’s Office of the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach.
