Sam Lorenson Hired as Georgia Center Executive Chef
Athens, Ga. (November 22, 2006) — The University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education Conference Center and Hotel is pleased to announce that Sam Lorenson has been hired as the executive chef. Lorenson will oversee food preparation for the Georgia Center’s banquets, luncheons and receptions for conferences and special events as well as for the center’s restaurants, the Savannah Room and the Courtyard Café.
Lorenson has more than 20 years of experience as a food services management professional. Prior to joining the Georgia Center, Lorenson was corporate chef for FKB Management, Jamie’s, Alexander’s & Caper’s Restaurant located inside the Embassy Suites Hotels in the Atlanta area. He’s also worked as executive chef for St. Ives Country Club, the Marriott at Gwinnett (both in Duluth, Georgia) the Hilton at Peachtree Corners (Norcross, Georgia) and the Melbourne Hilton at Rialto Place (Melbourne, Florida). He also was employed at the Fountainbleu Hilton Hotel (Miami, Florida) as garde manager and roundsmen. Lorenson received his associate of science degree from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York.

The Georgia Center, celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2007, is a unit of the University of Georgia’s Office of the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach. The Center provides innovative lifelong learning opportunities through its continuing education programs.
