Athens, Ga. (February 8, 2007) — Karen Baynes, associate director of the Carl Vinson Institute of Government, has been awarded a Children and Family Fellowship from the renowned Annie B. Casey Foundation.

“I am very excited about how this fellowship can benefit the work of the university’s Family and Children Policy Initiative, of which the Institute is a part,” Baynes said. “The Casey Foundation is committed to improving outcomes for families and communities through the kinds of activities that our program fosters, such as building collaboratives and using data to make programming decisions and track results.”

Baynes was one of only 16 individuals nationwide to receive the 18-month fellowship, which includes executive leadership training, site visits and peer networking, and development of a research project.
