Grady College students promote “techno-tourism” at conference

techno-tourism-web.jpgAthens, GA (May 15, 2007) – From May 9-10, 2007, more than 20 New Media Institute students from UGA’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication presented projects that focused on ways to use mobile media technology to promote tourism in Georgia at the “Techno-Tourism: Downloading Technology into Georgia” conference, sponsored by the Georgia Department of Economic Development.

Working with the Georgia Tourism Foundation and the Tourism Office of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, the students developed 10 projects, including an I-95 corridor pilot program commissioned by the Tourism Foundation in 2006. The project aimed to turn Georgia’s pass-through visitors into destination visitors and ultimately increase overnight visitation to the state.
