Leiter receives hospitality award
Athens, GA (May 16, 2007) — Robert Leiter, director of the Georgia Center for Continuing Education Conference Center and Hotel, is the recipient of the Athens Convention and Visitor’s Bureau 2007 Louis Griffith Hospitality Leadership Award, which acknowledges the contributions of an outstanding management-level individual in the local hospitality industry.
The award was announced at the Athens Convention and Visitor’s Bureau’s Annual Tourism Breakfast, held at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia. The Convention and Visitor’s Bureau honored Leiter for his commitment to growing the hospitality industry, both locally and statewide, through cooperation with industry partners. His philosophy of “all ships rise with incoming waters” recognizes that the Georgia Center and the hospitality industry overall will do better by working together.
“Dr. Leiter has also been a leader in workforce development and customer service training, both at the Georgia Center and for the larger hospitality industry, through programs such as Services Heroes in Hospitality,” said Chuck Jones, the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau director. “Athens and Georgia are most fortunate to reap the benefits of Dr. Leiter’s leadership.”
