Affolter and Ceska named conservation officers for the Center for Plant Conservation

sidephysic.jpgAthens, GA (June 15, 2007) – Two University of Georgia staff members, James Affolter and Jennifer Ceska, were named conservation officers for the Center for Plant Conservation at the organization’s national meeting held in Chicago May 3-6, 2007.

James Affolter, a UGA horticulture professor and the director of research at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia, has worked in university botanical gardens for the past 24 years and joined the State Botanical Garden staff in 1993. He has been chair of the Georgia Plant Conservation Alliance since the organization was founded in 1995.

Jennifer Ceska, the State Botanical Garden’s first conservation coordinator, has served in that position for the last 12 years. She played a central role in creating the Georgia Plant Conservation Alliance and has served as coordinator since the organization’s inception.
