Nancy Thompson receives National University Telecommunications Network award
Athens, Ga. (June 29, 2007) – Nancy Thompson, head of the University System of Georgia Independent and Distance Learning and eCore Administrative Services programs at the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education, was recently awarded the Nofflet Williams Service Award from the National University Telecommunications Network (NUTN). The award was presented at NUTN 2007, the organization’s annual conference, June 10-12 in Philadelphia.
The Nofflet Williams Service Award recognizes an individual who exhibits, over a sustained period and in a consistent manner, the commitment to providing service to those in the field. NUTN states this award is doubly significant because the central core of the organization is to provide service in the exchange of experience, practice and theory to all in the organization in a free manner.
Thompson has served on the NUTN National Advisory Board since 2001. She also co-chaired the NUTN 2003 annual conference in San Antonio and since 2004 has chaired NUTN resource groups: Distance Learning, Corporate and Military, Technology Applications, Strategic Partnerships and International Issues.
“My association with NUTN colleagues provides an excellent exchange of ideas and practice related to the emerging field of distance education,” Thompson said.
As a premier higher education organization in the educational telecommunications field, NUTN provides vision and experience in a highly personal setting. It utilizes numerous channels to facilitate and promote networking, mentoring, and collaborating among higher education institutions, administrators managing technology and content delivery, teaching faculty and educational technology professionals.
NUTN members represent a majority of the current experience that exists within higher education in planning, designing, producing, distributing and evaluating distance education products. For more information about NUTN, go to http://www.nutn.org/index.html.
