Project Riverway reception and gallery opening

riverway-web.jpgAthens, Ga. (August 15, 2007) - The faculty and students of Project Riverway will host a reception and gallery opening to showcase their work on Aug. 30 from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the Circle Gallery in Caldwell Hall.

During the second summer of Project Riverway, students from landscape architecture, historic preservation, journalism, forestry and law combined their efforts to develop projects designed to address the needs of communities along the Chattahoochee River from Fort Gaines, Ga., to Chattahoochee, Fla. Faculty from the Fanning Institute, the College of Environment and Design and the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication team-taught the service-learning landscape architecture course.

Project Riverway allows students to generate ideas and create plans for improving life along the lower Chattahoochee, Flint and Apalachicola rivers in a way that embraces the culture and history of the region while improving economic conditions in the area.
