Epsilon Sigma Phi recognizes UGA’s Archway Partnership Project for diversity
Athens, GA (September 24, 2007) – Epsilon Sigma Phi, the Extension Professionals’ Organization, recognized members of the University of Georgia’s Archway Partnership Project for their commitment to diversity and multiculturalism at the ESP national conference on September 14.
The pilot location for the Archway Partnership Project - Moultrie, Colquitt County, Ga., - recently experienced a large population increase of Latino farm and poultry processing plant workers, which changed the infrastructure and needs of the community. Archway helped coordinate responses to those changing needs by connecting the community to expertise and resources available at UGA.
Archway team members from UGA included Debbie Purvis, Colquitt County Cooperative Extension agent; Scott Brown, Colquitt County Cooperative Extension coordinator; Mel Garber, Archway director; Lamar Martin, retired assistant dean for Extension; Dennis Epps, Archway coordinator; Steve Dempsey, associate vice president for public service and outreach; and Art Dunning, vice president for public service and outreach.
The Archway Partnership Project gives Georgia communities wider access to higher education resources that can help address community economic development challenges. Archway is jointly supported by the Office of the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach and UGA Cooperative Extension.
