Adopt-A-Wetland and Adopt-A-Stream Volunteer Appreciation Banquet
Athens, Ga. (November 12, 2007) - On November 3, 2007, more than 80 participants joined UGA Marine Extension Service staff on Skidaway Island for the first Adopt-A-Wetland and Adopt-A-Stream Volunteer Appreciation Banquet.
Volunteers came from Tybee Island to St. Mary’s, and the evening served as an opportunity for active AAW and AAS volunteers to mingle with each other. Dr. Rick Jahnke gave an informative presentation about coastal changes resulting from climate alterations. After the presentation, banquet participants enjoyed a low country boil and oyster roast. Representatives from the Department of Natural Resource Coastal Resource Division and Environmental Protection Division, Armstrong Atlantic State University, the Skidaway Institute of Oceanography, and the UGA Marine Extension Service staff and faculty were in attendance to show their support for the AAW and AAS programs.
