Academic Pre-Collegiate Programming at UGA
The Office of the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach invites UGA faculty members, staff, and students who lead or are interested in Academic Pre-Collegiate programming at the university to a meeting to explore interest in the formation of an Academic Pre-Collegiate Program Interest Group.
Date: December 3, 2007
10:00 – 11:30 a.m. (refreshments provided)
Fanning Building, Georgia Power Training Room
At this first meeting, Art Dunning, vice president for public service and outreach, will set the context, followed by a discussion of the following questions:
What is the University of Georgia currently doing in precollegiate programming?
What is the level of campus-wide communication and coordination about current precollegiate programming?
What should the University of Georgia’s role be in supporting the educational pipeline of Georgia’s youth?
Given that the university should have some role in supporting Georgia’s educational pipeline with precollegiate programming, a pre-collegiate interest group would seek to address:
How can the university better coordinate precollegiate programming endeavors?
How can the university focus teaching, research, and outreach efforts on precollegiate programming?
What additional resources (i.e. fiscal and staff support) are needed to fund current and new precollegiate programming at UGA? What are potential sources of revenue, including private gifts or grants?
Please share this invitation with others who you think might be interested.
