As a marketing research analyst for the Georgia SBDC Network, Beth Melnik conducts research studies for numerous community groups and small business owners.

Beth Melnik began her career with UGA more than 19 years ago as a marketing research analyst in the Applied Research Division in the Small Business Development Center (SBDC). Through her dedication, hard work, analytical insight, and sound judgment, she has earned increasing authority and responsibilities. As a marketing research analyst for the Georgia SBDC Network, Melnik conducts research studies for numerous community groups and small business owners. Her current job responsibilities include conducting needs assessments, developing and overseeing the deployment of the SBDC’s strategic plan, and evaluating program efforts in order to effect continual improvement. She has been inventive in her approach to needs assessment techniques to discern how the SBDC can best serve its clientele. Her work with the organization’s economic impact study over the years has helped steer it toward an enhanced concept of “organizational success” and identify appropriate performance metrics.
Melnik has also been active on numerous university committees, including the Program Review and Assessment Committee, the University Council, and various promotion committees and is a member of the PSO Leadership Academy Steering Committee. She also contributes her services to professionalorganizations. At the request of the Atlanta Chapter of the American Marketing Association, she became the faculty advisor for the UGA Student Chapter of the association, a post she held for several years. Beth has worked on numerous national committees and last year was named vice-chair of the national accreditation committee.
Allan Adams, SBDC state director, says of Melnik, “It is obvious that [she] possesses strong management and marketing skills, but it is also her judgment, character, and attitude that have made her a leader in our organization. She is respected by her colleagues within the Georgia SBDC Network and her peers throughout the nation.”
