The Athens Area Community Foundation (AACF) recently topped $1 million in grants made to the community and surpassed $5 million in assets under management. Rapid growth brings opportunities and challenges. As a hub for strategic philanthropy, AACF will continue to build its capacity to keep up with the growth. AACF’s executive committee members Bill Douglas, Alex Patterson, Kelly Holloway, Pat Mercardante, and Webster Hewitt met with President Delene Porter, a public service and outreach faculty member at the J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development, to discuss the use of UGA’s MBA Leadership Fellows in streamlining Internal Management and Educating and Linking Donors. Over the 2015-2016 school year, 14 Terry MBA Leadership Fellows will work with AACF on four distinct, but interconnected projects: AACF Internal Operations, Community Health Assessment, Youth Development, and Economic Opportunity.
