UGA Marine Extension launched its new Friends of the UGA Aquarium recognition program. The program engages members of the public in support of educating future generations in ocean literacy and environmental leadership. Utilizing the Georgia Funder crowd-funding website and promotions at Skidaway Island Marine Science Day, the new campaign has already raised $22,750, over half of its initial $40,000 goal. All Friends of the UGA Aquarium will be recognized annually within the aquarium, receive UGA Marine Extension’s e-newsletter, a Friends aquarium pass and invitations to special events throughout the year. More importantly, Friends of the UGA Aquarium help protect Georgia’s coastal resources through their commitment to marine science and coastal ecology.
