George Summers, a University of Georgia undergrad studying environmental engineering, has spent his summer at UGA Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant’s Brunswick Station under the advisement of stormwater specialist Jessica Brown as part of a stormwater program internship. This eight-week internship was designed to provide project-based learning opportunities. George worked on a number of projects that allowed him to use skills that he’s learned in the classroom and apply them to achieve real-world stormwater management solutions. George used tools such as ArcGIS and AutoCAD Civil Land Desktop to create base maps, conceptual design plans, and engineering drawings this summer. As George prepares to go back to Athens for the start of his senior year he is “appreciative of the experience gained this summer.”
