The Carl Vinson Institute of Government’s Information Technology Outreach Services  (ITOS) division recently began work on a two-year project to enhance a key database used to develop county hazard mitigation plans. County governments must have a mitigation plan in place to be eligible for federal aid in case of a flood or other natural disaster. An ITOS team is refining building inventory information and tax data from 31 Georgia counties so that the material can be more easily managed and accessed in case of flood or windstorm. The Georgia Emergency Management Agency approved the project in late April.
