The Office of Service-Learning was recognized with a 2016 Impact Award from the Clarke County School District (CCSD), recognizing “organizations that have made significant, lasting and ongoing contributions” to CCSD students. According to the school district, “The University of Georgia Office of Service-Learning is one of the many departments at UGA that really makes the UGA-CCSD partnership work. Not only does this office coordinate the Experience UGA field trips that every student in CCSD participate in at every grade level, but they are also a department that is always developing ways to better support CCSD schools. At Clarke Middle School, they have been a vital partner in promoting sustainability and supporting the school’s summer garden lunch program. In addition, the office helped create a position at UGA that would promote farm to school principles at each middle school. The Office of Service-Learning makes a difference at the school and district level, and is a strong example of university-school district partnership.”
