Surveys show students value SBDC experience

For the past few years the UGA Small Business Development Center (SBDC) has been surveying students who work in assistantships and internships, both graduate and undergraduate, to not only determine whether the SBDC offers a positive work environment, but to also determine if the students find their time an effective learning experience. The survey was provided by an SBDC graduate assistant from the Institute of Higher Education. From the 44 respondents over 90 percent indicated that students found their work a positive learning experience, the work assigned was meaningful and educational, it helped them develop their problem solving abilities, and 98 percent indicated they would recommend the SBDC to other students. One particularly rewarding comment, “The SBDC allowed for me to apply the principles and methodologies I was learning in class. Being able to not only know what models and terminology are, but to actually perform them on various businesses resonated with myself and future employers.”
