Steve Dempsey serves as an associate vice president (AVP) for Public Service and Outreach (PSO) at the University of Georgia (UGA). Dempsey coordinates the UGA New Faculty Tour, strategic planning, regional resource teams, the PSO Facilitation Academy, the Hill/Hill Fellow and Staff awards, and the Public Service and Outreach annual meeting and awards program. Along with his AVP duties, Steve has served as interim director of both the UGA Center for Continuing Education & Hotel and the J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development. In his previous position as the assistant director of the Institute of Community and Area Development (ICAD), Dempsey’s work in community economic development focused on the development and implementation of the creative group problem-solving laboratory, participatory policy design, management consultation to state and local government, recreation service delivery agencies, growth-management related issues, and facilitator training. Dempsey enjoys boating, walking, painting, yoga, cycling and spending time in his workshop.

Dempsey earned a B.S. degree from Montclair State College, an M.S. degree from Western Kentucky University, and an Ed.D. from the University of Georgia.
