Stacy Jones is the University of Georgia’s Vice President for Public Service and Outreach. She leads the university’s statewide outreach, engagement, and economic development mission across eight public service units, working in collaboration with UGA Extension and all 20 schools and colleges. These units include the Archway Partnership, Carl Vinson Institute of Government, UGA Center for Continuing Education & Hotel, J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development, State Botanical Garden of Georgia, Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant, the statewide network of 17 Small Business Development Centers, and the Office of Service-Learning (co-led with the Vice President for Instruction).
As Vice President, Jones directs applied research and community-based programs that develop leaders, support small businesses, train government officials, and provide technical assistance and continuing education. Under her leadership, UGA’s public service efforts help strengthen local economies, revitalize downtowns, protect natural resources, and foster economic opportunity across Georgia.
Her work enhances UGA’s teaching, research, and service mission, and creates meaningful experiential learning opportunities for students. She also advances key strategic priorities for the university’s outreach enterprise: promoting jobs and prosperity, developing leaders, and addressing critical challenges facing the state.
Previously, Jones served as Associate Vice President for Public Service and Outreach, Director of the Center for Continuing Education & Hotel, and as faculty at the Carl Vinson Institute of Government. Prior to UGA, she worked in community development and hospital administration in Georgia. The Georgia Association of County Commissioners recognized her as Leadership Advocate of the Year. She also served on the Georgia Municipal Training Board from 2012 to 2020.
Jones earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia, a master’s in public administration from Troy University, and a doctorate in higher education from UGA.
She is a past president of the UGA College of Family and Consumer Sciences Alumni Association, former chair of the Georgia 4-H State Advisory Council, and recipient of the UGA Blue Key Young Alumnus Award and the College of Family and Consumer Sciences Pacesetter Award.
Jones was appointed Vice President for Public Service and Outreach July 1, 2025.
