  • The UGA Atlanta Economic Development Office advises university leadership on new business recruitment efforts to Georgia, industry sector growth and expansion, and areas of collaboration between the private sector and academic and research areas at UGA
  • The office represents UGA with the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD), statewide utilities, local development authorities, and other partners for business recruitment efforts – marketing the strengths of UGA’s talent and research pipeline across the state to potential companies looking to locate or expand operations in Georgia.
  • The office serves as a liaison to various economic development stakeholders including the Georgia Allies public-private partnership, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, and various corporate partners across Georgia to ensure that the UGA is aligned with the business community to produce an educated workforce for both today and into the future. 
  • A heavy focus for the office is centered around high-demand areas of industry growth that directly align with UGA academic and research areas of expertise, including but not limited to: precision agriculture, electric mobility, life sciences, corporate headquarters, food production, technology and advanced manufacturing.
