Klostermann serves as the Assistant Administrative Financial Director for the unit. She supports the Athens Administrative Office by handling OneSource financial transactions and coordinating UGA Foundation donor relations. Her key responsibilities include weekly UGA Foundation gift acknowledgment, monthly P-card reconciliation, daily OneSource payment requests and managing UGAMart orders, receipts and invoices. Klostermann enjoys the variety of tasks and continuous learning her role offers, embracing each challenge with enthusiasm and adaptability.
Over a two-month span in 2024, Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant hosted three major events—Sea Grant Week, the International Conference on Shellfish Restoration (ICSR2024), and a federal grant workshop in Corvallis, Oregon. Even though event planning is not part of her official job duties, Klostermann played a key role in organizing and supporting all three conferences, which collectively involved nearly 600 participants and earned outstanding feedback from attendees. Her exceptional efforts went above and beyond expectations, showcasing her dedication and impact.
Klostermann also is known for her attention to detail, often seeing things others might miss, and is always eager to willing to lend a hand, consistently delivering high-quality work and offering thoughtful, strategic insights—balanced with the humility to ask for help when needed. Beyond her professional strengths, Klostermann is the heart of the office, remembering birthdays, organizing luncheons, and always bringing a kind, personal touch with her thoughtful cards on special occasions.
Klostermann joined Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant in 2020 after working for 13 years in administrative and financial roles within the University of Georgia Foundation and the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. She was nominated by Sara Karlsson, administrative financial director for Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant.
“Bonnie exemplifies the collaborative spirit and dedication of PSO employees,” said Matt Bishop, interim vice president for Public Service and Outreach. “Her blend of professionalism, adaptability, and genuine thoughtfulness makes her a valuable part of the PSO team.”
Klostermann received a gift basket of treats and a framed certificate recognizing the award.
