Employee Spotlight: Tracy Reese

Tracy Reese of the UGA Center for Continuing Education & Hotel recently was awarded the Public Service and Outreach Employee Spotlight Award.

Reese serves as the event coordination department manager at the Georgia Center, where she oversees the daily operations of the department. She is responsible for hiring, training and mentoring event coordinators and senior event coordinators, and provides support on solving complex and challenging issues.  She is also responsible for scheduling event coverage, tracking the financial impact of events at the Georgia Center and overseeing the department’s budget, as well as financial agreements and negotiations with clients.

During a recent conference at the Georgia Center, Reese engaged in a high level of customer service that goes beyond the care and support she provides every day. She noticed an attendee approaching the buffet lunch with a concerned look on his face. Reese learned that he was dangerously allergic to onions and always carried an EpiPen with him.

Reese then talked with Georgia Center executive chef Rob Harrison about the situation. Harrison insisted on preparing a dish from scratch to ensure the man had no exposure to onion powder. The man was grateful for the care and empathy he was shown.

Reese and Harrison then planned out the man’s meals for the rest of his stay at the Georgia Center.

Reese, who joined the Georgia Center in 2023, was nominated by KT Cooke, director of sales and event management at the Georgia Center.

“This unparalleled level of customer service and genuine care serves as a shining example of the leadership qualities we aspire to embody every day at PSO,” said Jennifer Frum, vice president for Public Service and Outreach.

Reese received a gift basket of treats and a framed certificate recognizing the award.
