Office of Service-Learning awarded AmeriCorps Volunteers in Service to America grant

The Office of Service-Learning has recently been awarded an AmeriCorps Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) grant by the Corporation for National and Community Service. A national service program designed specifically to fight poverty, AmeriCorps VISTA is often thought of as the domestic Peace Corps. The three-year grant will provide funding for four full-time VISTA members who will work with OSL and community partners to develop service-learning opportunities in the Latino community and through addressing community food issues. The members will forge connections with the school garden initiative in the Clarke County School District, the Campus Kitchen Project at UGA and the UGArden, UGA’s student-powered garden.
