Each year, the Office of the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach provides a select cohort of undergraduate students the opportunity to explore and engage with PSO’s mission through the Public Service and Outreach Student Scholars program . The program provides students with a deeper understanding of PSO’s mission through meetings and outreach, and helps them link these experiences with their career and educational goals.
Beginning in the fall, students visit all eight PSO units. as a group to see first-hand the various educational, outreach and research programs. They also take part in hands-on service activities, such as bagging oyster shells on the coast or collecting and distributing food with the Campus Kitchen at UGA. In the spring, students serve as interns with one of the eight units with responsibilities ranging from job shadowing to applied research to community involvement.
