Office of the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach

The Public Service & Outreach Student Scholars program provides the opportunity for a select cohort of undergraduate students to explore and engage with the University of Georgia’s public service and outreach mission.

A select few Public Service & Outreach Student Scholars program alumni may choose to help lead future cohorts of student scholars for experiential learning credit.

Archway Partnership

Archway Student Internship Program

Archway Partnership

Students can obtain experiential learning credit for working in the state Archway office, located in the Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel. Using their classroom expertise, students will work on projects related to Archway communities across the state of Georgia and assist with the day-to-day operations of the Archway Partnership.

Elizabeth V. Wight Southwest Georgia Internship Program

Archway Partnership

The Elizabeth V. Wight Southwest Georgia Internship allows a UGA student to work closely with the Archway Partnership team – community and economic development professionals, facilitators, instructors, and problem solvers – to help address issues in rural Georgia. For this
internship, students will be assigned to work specifically on projects in and related to southwest Georgia.

Look Ahead Georgia Internship Program

Archway Partnership

Look Ahead Georgia is designed to encourage UGA students to return to their rural hometowns by offering internships in local businesses, governments and nonprofits in rural Georgia communities.

PROPEL Rural Scholars Program

Carl Vinson Institute of Government

The PROPEL Rural Scholars program provides undergraduate students interested in rural economic and community development the opportunity to work alongside an Institute of Government mentor and community leaders from across the state.

Through the Vinson Fellows program, students have an opportunity to become involved in CVIOG training, applied research and technical assistance programs and other projects for state and local governments in Georgia and internationally.

Summer Academy Internships

Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel

This academic summer camp hosts weeklong courses in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts
and Math). Working as a cohort, interns will create and execute week-long STEAM education programs for students
aged 7 to 10.

Student Internship Program

Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel

Students interested in workforce development through continuing education can gain experience and prepare for careers in public service through the Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel internship program. The semester-long program introduces undergraduate students to areas necessary for establishing and maintaining successful continuing education programs.

J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development

By working with an assigned mentor from the Institute’s team of multi-disciplinary faculty, students interested in the intersection between theory, research, and community-based practice have the opportunity to play a vital role in a variety of projects in community, non-profit, organizational, and/or youth leadership development.

AmeriCorps Community Food Fellows

Office of Service-Learning

Funded by an AmeriCorps State grant, the Community Food Fellows (CFF) program is a new, multi-year initiative of the Office of Service-Learning. The CFF initiative annually supports a cohort of about 20 members who each commit to provide up to 900 hours of service with on-campus and off-campus partner organizations focused on food insecurity, food production, and food waste.

Campus Kitchen at UGA is the student-powered hunger relief program of the UGA Office of Service-Learning that exists to spotlight sustainable solutions to hunger and food waste and to showcase a mutually beneficial university-community partnership.

Clarke County Mentor Program

The Clarke County Mentor Program (CCMP) partners with the Clarke County School District (CCSD) to recruit and train community volunteers to serve as mentors to children in CCSD (K-12) schools. CCMP works to build and foster these mentoring relationships to reduce poverty in the community and to promote post-secondary opportunities.

Experience UGA Ambassadors

Experience UGA Ambassadors are the first people to greet Clarke County School District students as they arrive on campus, and they are instrumental in the overall success of the Experience UGA program. The ambassador program is designed to enhance students leadership and critical thinking skills, and is recognized as a high impact experiential learning opportunity.

Small Business Development Center

Small Business Development Center Internship Program

Small Business Development Center

Working alongside SBDC faculty and under the mentorship of an office director, students are assigned projects based on their areas of interest and be provided with substantive feedback on their work. Students may apply their business knowledge and develop new skills in a variety of areas based on their interests, including business consulting, marketing, and public speaking.
